Though quite a small area, there are many people living in San Francisco, the city by the bay, and the culture is always alive and entertaining. In fact, San Francisco is an extremely progressive place to call home.
The hotels in San Francisco can be quite expensive since there is not too much room and real estate runs high even for locals. However, there are budget hotels and motels that are just perfect for any traveler. Likewise, the Nob Hill neighborhood offers expensive, upscale hotels and a truly San Franciscan experience.

Mention Anaheim and people just seem to get visions of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck in their heads. Anaheim is home to Disneyland, where dreams are made and children anticipate visiting for years. Parents too seem to enjoy the entire Disney experience as much or more than their children oftentimes. In many cases, parents have had their own go at Disneyland when they were children themselves.
A few years ago, Disneys California Adventure was also opened for adults seeking a more mature Disneyland experience. At Disneys California Adventure the rollercoaster rides are higher and faster and the theme is more about parents or teenagers having a good time. There are also wonderful adult-themed hotels for singles and honeymooners. In one particular hotel restaurant at the California Adventure theme park, there is a wine bar unmatched anywhere in the Los Angeles area.
Kids Love Anaheim
Kids also love the hotels and motels in Anaheim, California. The weather is always nice in this part of the country and there is always something to do. Hotels typically have swimming pools where parents and children can take a break from the Disneyland experience and spend some quality time together.
Even though Anaheim is well-known for the Disney connection, you can still find other things to do in the area. There are many shopping centers in which to find trendy California clothes and souvenirs. For dinner, you might not even know where to begin since there are so many restaurants to choose from, offering food of all varieties from steak to pasta to pizza to hamburgers.

The best way to figure out where to stay in Los Angeles is to determine where you want to visit and spend your time. Since there is so much to see and do in this city, many times there is just no way to do it all in one visit. Most tourists have a must-see list that includes Hollywood Blvd., Santa Monica, the Sunset Strip and at least one studio.
While Hollywood used to be quite run-down, that is no longer the case. In fact, the city has cleaned the area up so well that new hotels have sprung up strategically to accommodate visitors to the area. The Academy Awards is even held in Hollywood once again, therefore giving Hollywood back the unique charm from years ago.
Hotels and Motels Everywhere throughout the City
Los Angeles is truly where dreams are made or broken. It is Sunset Strip where visitors will see some of the deals being made at the outdoor restaurants, generally considered places to see and be seen. There are also mega-expensive boutiques and clothing shops in the area that offer some of the latest in fashion name brands.
For the beach lover, its got to be Santa Monica or Venice Beach. While somewhat dirty in certain areas, these two coastal towns will be forever popular. On a Sunday afternoon you can visit Venice Beach–just the place where you can get tattooed or pierced, all in about an hour.

Sacramento is Californias state capital and located in what is considered the Central Valley. The city was actually built around a cattle ranch, but when the gold rush hit, the founders dreams were abandoned since his workers left to seek their fortune. The railroad running through the area also contributed to Sacramentos increased growth.
Nowadays, Sacramento is a modern city with tall buildings and many hotels and motels for the traveler. There are also some remembrances of the past including saloons and wharves located in the riverfront area. A good place to visit and get a historical feeling is Old Sacramento, where most of the restored buildings attract visitors year round.
Other Things to Do in Sacramento
More interesting stops along the way in Sacramento are the California State Railroad Museum which boasts restored trains from the 1800s. The old depot has been restored for modern-day usage, delighting tourists and locals alike with a steam train ride. During the summer the steam train operates for $6 per passenger, making a seven-mile run along the river.
Since Sacramento is the state capital, do be sure and visit this part of the city. The building is located on K Street. You can have a free tour of the building and surrounding area at anytime of the year. While Sacramento is not always a scheduled stop along the way for visitors, it offers many things to do and a real glimpse of early life in California.

Monterey is quite an old town, located in California and having been found by Spaniards in 1602. History is still found everywhere in Monterey including buildings that are in the colonial style as well as the popular waterfront where most of the action is found. In the Monterey State Historic Park there are as many as 37 places to visit, but it is usually imperative to be on the walking tour in order to get the full experience.
Outdoor types will love Monterey since there are bike paths that surround the city. John Steinbeck made the area popular with his book Cannery Row, which was the area where the fish canneries were located in Monterey. The area is no longer a place for canning fish and is now a tourist attraction with places to eat, shop, and dance at night.
The Best Thing about Monterey
The best thing to do in Monterey is definitely visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It is rumored to have the largest underwater life displays in the world and when you visit, you will see why. There is also the ever-popular pool where children and adults can touch the bat rays, an experience not soon forgotten.
Museums are also popular in Monterey and many of the old houses such as the Larkin House or the Stevenson House are museums in their own right. The Stevenson house is actually named after Robert Louis Stevenson who came through the area in the late 1800s. Monterey is right on the water, but it really does have reason to boast much more than the typical wharfs and tacky tourist attractions.
